DHP 8-Inch Independently-Encased Coil Premium Futon Mattress : Very thick and hard to fold for a futon

Comfortable for a futon bed or couch. If you need a futon mattress that is firm but comfortable, you’ve found it. I wanted soemthing for my guest room that guests wouldn’t sink into, and that wouldn’t have them be able to feel the frame underneath (a difficult task for a futon mattress). I’m sure this mattress would work on a regular full size bed frame as well. I was so surprised that as advertise, it’s the same as a full size bed mattress. My full size futon frame fits this perfectly. The sheets i bought are for a full size bed, and they work perfectly as well. It’s so comfortable that when i feel like having a nap, i sneak into the guest room and lay on this mattress.I don’t know how they do it, but they pack this tightly into a tall, thin box.

I was a little worried about the thickness when i first saw the size of the box. Until i opened it and realized that they vaccum seal it for shipping. As soon as i broke the seal of the plastic, it quickly sprung to life and the proper shape. It doesn’t look quite as thick as the pictures when it’s shown on the frame. But it does measure about 8 inches thick and it is very comfortable and just the right size for easy folding of the futon. Good quality and nice soft surface.

98% of the time i use it as a couch. Just followed the instructions. Do yourself a favor though do not sit/sleep on this thing until all the springs have sprung. There is a reason why it tells you to wait 48 hrs to allow it to expand. I did follow the instructions and in doing so thought 48 hrs was a long time for it to expand. Because the springs in it after sitting for over 24 hrs in mine were still popping. Scared me half to death the next day.

No smell, but smaller than expected. . I was redoing my entire bedroom, and decided i needed a new mattress. I had no desire to pay nearly a grand for a new, ergonomic, super support mattress for my platform bed. Looking around, i found this futon on amazon. The ratings and reviews from other users were pretty good, even though some claim a very bad odor. The futon came rolled up in a large box and was sent via fedex. Lemme say right now, i love that. I have had numerous issues with them.

DHP 8-Inch Independently-Encased Coil Premium Futon Mattress, Full Size, Black : Best futon mattress i’ve ever seen. It’s a futon mattress, so there’s not much to say. It’s almost as comfortable as my serta (relatively high end) mattress that i use for my bed. This is just being used in the couch configuration on a cheap futon frame and it makes for some awesome naps. It’s mostly used as a couch, and as a extra bed for guests; none of which even cared to put it into bed mode. I don’t know how well it will hold up if you keep bending it (like switching between couch and bed every day). Much happier that i got this instead of a cheap frame and mattress combo.

Exceeded my expectations, i don’t think you can go wrong here. Will consider dhp for future needs . Has exceeded my expectations, comfortable to sleep on or sit on. Great for guests or as an office piece if you need to overnight. Nothing beats a real bed, but this is by far the best dual piece or futon i’ve ever come across, i am 5’9′ and approx 175lbs. I would not hesitate to purchase again from this company if or when the need arises. If you have to sleep on it long term i would suggest a decent mattress pad or cover but that’s it, and you might do that with any bed. This is a great item, i highly recommend.

Definitely not a one person job to get it out of the box and set up, but getting a mattress in the mail in a box is very convenient. It was much more economical to update and convert a futon we already had than buy a new couch, and i think i like the result better. I went with the tan/beige which is definitely the most couch-like, neutral option and it looks great. Unfortunately i have cats and am opting to cover it with a fitted sheet, but i love how easy it is to protect against cat hair compared to an actual couch. There are no fabric sides for cats to claw. The mattress makes for a more comfortable couch than many actual couches i have been on.

This mattress exceeded my expectations. It came shipped in a thick vacuum-sealed bag, to save space. It was packed in a manner such that the outside of my package had a pretty serious puncture, but the mattress remained untouched thanks to the vacuum sealed bag. The packaging listed the weight at 65lbs, so if you need help moving that much weight plan ahead. When i cut the bag open, the mattress expanded by itself like a life raft. It does take some effort to bend it, so that it will stay on a futon frame, i but two 40-lb dumbbells on it, and that seemed to develop a crease, and now the mattress sits on its own, needing only an occasional adjustment. The mattress itself is firm, even after the initial 48 hours decompression time. It is soft to the touch, the fabric has a velvety feel. There is plenty of support, so if you sleep well on a firm mattress, you will be fine sleeping on this alone.

17 – the mattress does take some muscle to unpack, but once opened, simply tear open the heavy duty plastic wrap, roll out your new individually encased coil mattress and watch this beauty decompress, like magic, lol. I really hope this mattress holds up well, because my god is it comfortable. I slept like a baby last night, no lie*this is not a ‘firm’ mattress. I sold mattresses for years and this would not qualify as a ‘firm. Pillow topthis would be categorized as a ‘plush,’ but trust me, it is very supportive for us back sleepers and is ‘plush’ enough to sleep comfortably if you’re a side sleeper. I’ve only had one nights sleep on this so far, so i’m going to try to remember to update you all every 3-6 months, because the longevity of this mattress is very important. *full disclosure: i weigh 155 lbs, am using this as an everyday ‘mattress’ sleeper (no futon), and to be fair, additional weekly ‘activities. . ‘will be back with updates ; )updates:5. I know it’s barely been a week, but my sleep has been king.

Two years old and still great. I’ve had this for over two years and it still works great, absolutely no indentations and it’s still soft and comfortable. It does tend to pick up pet hair and the plastic ‘staples’ that keep the liner secure tend to collect dirt and spare change, but it’s a small price to pay for how much better your futon will feel when you’re no longer feeling metal bars under your butt.

It fits perfectly on my futon frame and is ridiculously comfortable. After sitting on it one time i couldn’t convince myself to get up until the next morning. I’ve now had it around 8 months and it is still like new.

Satisfied purchasedid not receive free/discounted. Update 2/4/16: definitely not as firm anymore and it is visibly lumpy. Still an ok amount of comfort though. Lucky us, there was no smell at all. Prompt delivery and easy to unwrap. Fits my futon frame perfectly, holds its shape and position. Only had it a week so i will update over time. It’s comfortable and supports our heavy compact weight, even bounces us up a little when getting up lol. The material is good, very comfortable, durable, suede and we’re only getting a cover to prevent stains from peoples’ hair, etc. Pretty firm but soft in a supportive way.

Stylish, high quality, and comfortable. We got this as a replacement for our old broken down futon that we used as guest seating/bed. The mattress arrived in a large packet that was heavy, but easy to move into the house. I’d suggest, as others have, putting the mattress onto the futon frame before cutting the plastic open. It’ll make your life much easier. As for quality, this mattress is a smashing hit within our household. It has a nice texture/feel and the stitching has not shown any signs of wear after heavy use. Spills are fairly easy to clean as the fabric as a slight water-repellent. Above all, it is extremely comfortable much like many more expensive plush couches are. So comfortable in fact, that it has slowly migrated its way into our normal seating in our living room.

I was a little hesitant, but finally purchased it and i’m so glad i did. Unpacking it was a challenge. The box is glued shut and it’s like industrial strength glue. I ended up cutting the box with a knife and fortunately did not cut the mattress. After removing it from the box, the mattress had to be freed from the plastic wrap. Then it expanded to its shape within 30 minutes. It did not have an offending smell and was slept on the same night.

Great for most every now and then use. So far after owning this for about a month or so it has been great. I just inherited a futon, but no futon mattress lol so after doing a lot of searching i finally went with this mattress. It came in a big box that will require 2 people to carry. The box it self was very sturdy which made it difficult to take the mattress out. If you use a box knife like i did, be extra pre-cautious to not dig in too deep and cut through the actual mattress. This was definitely worth the purchase. We mostly use the futon as a couch, but with summer around the corner i’ll have my niece and nephew sleeping on it.

Very thick and hard to fold for a futon. I got this mattress for my futon after upgrading from an older mattress purchases many years ago. I was amazed at the packaging of this, since it came vacuum sealed and all wrapped up, it kinda looked like it would be a carpet. Once opening, the air got into the mattress and it expanded. The thing i didn’t know about the mattress was how thick it would be. It makes it very difficult to fold the futon up, since the mattress is much thicker, compared to the older one i had. When it’s folded out, it looks very comfortable to sleep on, although i admit i’ve not had to sleep on the mattress when folded out. I’ve fallen asleep on the mattress when it’s folded, and it’s very comfortable. Every time i vacuum it, and flip it, it’s a challenge, and requires two people to fold up the futon afterwards, again, since the mattress is so thick. After folding the first time, we usually have to sit on it for a while, since it naturally wants to expand and opens the futon frame.

Pretty heavy and awkward to carry (i’m only 5’2′). So i had to get creative to get it to my apartment and getting it out of the box was also kind of tough. I had to cut the top off as a flap. Once out, be careful trying to cut the plastic. The matress expands rather quickly. To fold it, i just punched the center until it gave way and then plunked it onto the frame. It’s really thick and bouncy. The only reason i took a star away is because it has a smell. It just arrived today, and only took me 15mins to inbox and set up (spent most of the time dragging and pulling it out of the box).

Seems to be of good quality. I’ve only had it for about a month, but i will say that i’ve slept very well on it. It can be a bit of a bugger to get folded into the couch position because of the shear thickness of this mattress, but with a little force, and after some repetition it gets easier. I slept on an air mattress before this, and this futon mattress is more comfortable than the air mattress was imo. Before the air mattress i slept on an expensive sealy posturepedic box spring and mattress. I’m surprised to say that this futon mattress is also more comfortable imo than that posturepedic was.
